Speaker: Jeremy Green (University of Mainz) Title: Hadronic light-by-light scattering from lattice QCD Abstract: One of the leading sources of uncertainty in the Standard Model prediction for the anomalous magnetic moment of the muon is the contribution from hadronic light-by-light scattering, which is currently estimated using models. Lattice QCD can potentially provide an ab initio calculation of this contribution with controllable uncertainties. I will present an ongoing study of the hadronic light-by-light scattering amplitude by itself. In the case of forward kinematics, this is related via a dispersion relation to the gamma* gamma* -> hadrons cross section, which allows us to compare the lattice calculation with a phenomenological model. I will also briefly outline a strategy for computing the hadronic light-by-light scattering contribution to the muon g-2.
